David in Ziklag

David in Ziklag

In our last story, we learned how Saul goes after David again and David spares his life even after taking his spear and jug while Saul sleeps. In this story, we learn that David lives in Ziklag to escape Saul and also raids the nearby people, inspired by the book of 1 Samuel.

1 Samuel 30:8
In today's story, Ziklag was robbed, and David felt angry. However, he remembered an important lesson: God's plan is always the best plan. David exemplified this by inquiring of the Lord when he didn't know what to do. He prayed and asked God for guidance, just like talking to a best friend. Prayer is a two-way conversation with God. While we talk to Him about our feelings, thoughts, and concerns, it's equally important to listen. Listening to God involves being still, quiet, and attentive to His whispers in your heart, which can come through your Bible, the Holy Spirit, or everyday experiences. The more you practice listening to God, the easier it becomes. Jesus assures us that His sheep hear His voice.
