Returning to Egypt

Returning to Egypt

Before this story, we learned about how Joseph while patiently in prison was able to interpret dreams which eventually promoted him to be second in command and warned Pharaoh of a coming famine. Now, we will learn how Joseph's brothers went to Egypt to buy grain during that great famine but were unable to recognize Joseph, inspired by the book of Genesis.

Genesis 42:6
Joseph's story is filled with emotions. First, he's surprised to see his brothers after more than 20 years apart. He's no longer a teenager; he's grown up, married, and has children. But Joseph knows God's plan was at work all along. Even when his brothers mistreated him, God turned those experiences into something good, not just for Joseph, but for everyone. Now his brothers, who started it all, stand before him in Egypt. They bow to him, just as he dreamed as a boy. Jacob, a bit surprised and initially angry, tests his brothers to see if they've changed. He puts money in their bags to check their honesty and asks Benjamin to test their kindness. Joseph's brothers had changed. They regret their past actions and wish they could make things right.
