Genesis 37:3
Joseph is alive as a slave in Egypt, but his father doesn't know. His brothers' lie causes immense pain, and this heartache began when Joseph's father, Israel (also known as Jacob), favored him with a beautiful robe. This favoritism hurt his other sons deeply. God's intention for us is to love Him and one another, which brings happiness. Yet, sin can infect our hearts, making us want to hurt others when we're hurt. That's what Joseph's brothers did due to their jealousy. God had a purpose for Joseph's dreams, and even when his brothers intended to kill him, God had a plan. The brothers sold Joseph to traders, who took him to Egypt. Despite their lies and Israel's mourning, God was at work. He doesn't give up on His people, and He was using these events to mend broken hearts and a broken world.
