Water Flows from the Rock

Water Flows from the Rock

In our last story, we learned how Korah tried to rise up against Moses, but the ground swallowed him up with his followers. In this story, we learn about Moses’ frustration with the complaints of the Israelites and so he responds in anger and instead of trusting God, the Lord will not let him enter the promised land, as inspired by the book of Numbers.

Numbers 21:34
Moses and the Israelites have spent 40 years in the desert. They're almost ready for the Promised Land. Do you know what God wants most from them? Trust! Trust leads to obedience, and obeying God helps fix the broken world because of sin. God uses people like us to make His plan work. Remember how God gave Moses instructions to get water from a rock before? This time, He said to speak to a rock. But Moses was angry and hit the rock. He didn't trust God. Because of this, Moses couldn't enter the Promised Land. Sin has consequences, even for mostly good people. But God stays faithful. The Israelites saw this as they conquered the Amorites. God helped them win. God is faithful to us, no matter what. So let's trust Him always.
