Genesis 32:28
Alone by a river, Jacob feared meeting his brother Esau, whom he had wronged. But instead of succumbing to fear, Jacob prayed, and God appeared. The wrestling match that followed wasn't about who would win; it was about Jacob surrendering to God. Throughout the night, Jacob recognized his need for God. He clung to Him, acknowledging his past mistakes. When God asked Jacob his name, Jacob confessed his shortcomings. God then renamed him Israel, symbolizing a new beginning. In the same way, when we accept Jesus as Savior, we become children of God, defined by His love. Your identity in Jesus is the truth—no other label sticks. You're not a mess; you're known, seen, and loved by the God who created everything.
